GRE Issue Essay practice
From childhood we have been made to believe “Old is Gold”. But as we attain adulthood we start believing it’s not anymore. You may be in any field, but if you want to survive today you need to give less importance to the great works of the past.
Patriotic people like Mahatma Gandhi, Adolf Hitler are still respected for the work they have done for their country. The way they opted to bring justice to their country is obviously no answer to current problems faced by their country. But movies like Lage Raho Munna Bhai and others have shown what changes in can bring in people lives if even few basic principles of such great personalities are accustomed to daily life of common people.
It’s a normal human tendency to circumspect the past so as not to commit the same mistakes again and to get better as far as progress in concerned which is undoubtedly true with respect to any field in the world. For instance, Indian democratic world lead by Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and Mr. Man Mohan Singh is actually a great example to assent to the topic. These great leaders actually have no apathy to the exuberant courtesies they have endowed on Indian people over the years. In fact, they never look back because the past techniques which would have worked at that time is surely no longer satisfactorily today even to bring the same success rate. If they still stick to the old degraded methods to run the country, it is surely going to hamper the progress of the country.
Also, same is true when it comes to technological world. The way we used to produce nuclear energy or electricity 10 years back has actually became outmoded in present times. The world can’t still live on those outmoded methods due to ever increasing needs of common people in each corner of the world. Innovation in technological world does have partly success when it disregards previous great works. Mr. Mark Zukerburg brought Facebook to the world maybe because somewhere in his heart for sure, he was not satisfied with the internet world during the time Facebook came into existence.
I believe not satisfied is the euphemism tone for having disregard of the great works of the past. Adding, every human being in the world would have been at his peak atleast once in his educational years. If a person at an age of say 30-35 years, still depends on the glory of his/her 10th and 12th life, that’s logically insane. It’s not that person should not respect whatever glory was achieved in past, but still dependence on that is stupidity.
So I believe when we disregard the great works of the past, it means that we are and should move on with time. Old glories should be dealt with respect but not as something on which we still depend on to excel in life.
