TIPS ON PLACEMENT/INTERVIEW PROCESS

Hey!! hiieee :D

For the next 10-15 mins or so, I will be sharing as much as information about various things about the placement procedure for a company which visited our campus. I wished my juniors to be well acquainted with the process and some background about the company beforehand which actually can actually make a lot of difference on D-day.  I actually don’t want my experience in giving Aptitude’s, interviews in hell lot of companies to get wasted.

PLEASE NOTE :-

All The NOS written below. +-5% error expected :P .maaf karo utna toh :P

And Everythin is written with respect to majority of people (Not 5-10 people in particular)

Eg. Whn I say Deliotte prefers people with good communication skills that doesn’t mean Tech people have not been hired by them. I am telling with what majority people had in common :)

DELOITTE :- (16,17th Aug)     - Pay :- 5.22 L

3 rounds.  Aptitude. then Case study and gd. then HR(Tech was simultaneously in HR).

Out of 230. 80 cleared Aptitude. around 44 next round. 21 selected at the end.

Aptitude.  45 questions and 1 hour. (VERBAL and Quant).Case study :- u would be given 1 case study as in say company X sales Y products, etc..  u would be expected to discuss with peers (10) tht how can u bring more profit or cut down costs. etc. etc.

IMP :- Deliotte. most of people who got selected were having very decent communications skills…. So if you think you are not good at Tech …and have decent communication skills…. The answer is Deliotte.  Tech people with good talking skills had an added advantage.

JPMorgan :- (26th Oct)          – Pay :- 6.28 L

3 rounds. Aptitude,Tech Interview, HR…

Out of 130….23 cleared Aptitude…. 14 next round…. 9 selected….

Aptitude :- 4 sections. VERBAL Quant Logic Tech (20 questions each) .In my exp. This was the easiest of all Aptitudes ;) . Venn Diagrams, Cubes dominated the Quant section. In Tech, they asked problems and wanted us 2 cum up with solutions…

IMP :- This company is fortune for people who had basic knowledge of Tech (OOPS Java). I said basic. bcoz it didn’t require Hard core Tech concepts. Normal knowledge about programming concepts is quite enough. Most of  the people who got selected were having Quality in their Character .

Morgan Stanley (25th Nov)               – Pay :- 10.3 L

2-3 rounds. Aptitude, Tech.

Out of 306…20 People Cleared Aptitude.6 for final round. 2 selected

Aptitude :- 3 sections. Quant (10 mrks).Normal Computer Questions(10 marks). C or C++ or Java Lang (30 questions)

Obv its Morgan Stanley, so Hard core Tech expected.

1 Thing I would suggest you for such companies they want people who are problem solvers. They see how u interpret the problem, analyze, and then solve . Logic here holds the key….

General Electric (26th Nov)  Pay :- 5.05 L

2-3 rounds. Aptitude.Programming,Tech.

Out of 230.23 cleared Aptitude.9 selected….

Aptitude :- Quant . Tech. General Computer Questions.Aptitude test was pretty easy except that the cut off was very high.

HARD Core Tech. A set of 3 programs was given to be executed on the machine to all the selected people after Aptitude. The codes were challenging and Tech interview was more on resume,projects.etc..

Imp:- Have good programming skills. General Technology awareness will help a lot during the tech interview as well as in the aptitude test. All 9 selected were really good coders :)

NOMURA (3rd Jan)                Pay : 6.10 L

Aptitude test :
3 sections – Verbal, Quant and Logical Reasoning (with ‘Attention to details’). In verbal, one had to be really quick as the allotted time wasn’t much. Quant wasn’t difficult, just a little tricky. Logical had patterns, ‘all cats are dogs, all dogs are pigs so which of the statements follow’ type questions etc.  250 appeared…. 60 selected after Aptitude. 26 for HR round. .21 selected

Next was the tech interview- important domains covered were databases, C++/java programming and logical questions and situations(they emphasized the fact that they were looking for good reasoning and analytical skills above anything else) for comps/IT students. Project based questions and anything mentioned in the resume could be asked. HR interview focused on reasoning skills again, and any interesting characteristic of the candidate mentioned by him/her or stated in the resume.

IMP :-  I think they were either looking for tech people or logical people with decent communication skills.

TCS (14th Jan)                        Pay : 3.16 L

3 rounds.Aptitude…. Tech.HR

I doubt that any1 don’t know how many people got selected in TCS.  FAcebook effect. :P .  Its 150 .

Aptitude :- Quant .  They provided us with the question bank. Really easy.

Tech interview :- Frankly Interview is more easier than vivas :P .  Bcoz In Vivas the scope is so large that u can’t estimate any Viva question. Obv all are now pro at Vivas :P .   In Tech Interview, for most of people, interviewee ask questions related to ur Resume. So very limited domain, getting?. easy to crack. But obv don’t take that lightly. after all no1 comes to distribute 3L just aise hei…

IMP :- Interviews are pretty calm without much stress. The only one who could do wrong for TCS or Accenture is U :P . So be kool. Bcoz u will act feel that they want u guys rather than u looking for Job. Be yourself and u are in. :P :)

ACCENTURE (16th Jan)       Pay : 3.26 L

Don’t know much abt it. Most part same as TCS.

IMP :- Interviews are pretty calm without much stress. The only one who could do wrong for TCS or Accenture is U :P . So be kool. Be yourself and u are in. ;)

MAQ  (2nd Feb)         Pay : 3.9 L

3 rounds. Aptitude. Tech.HR

Out of 11 people.6 Cleared Aptitude.None selected

Aptitude :- full Tech. around 45 MCQ’s.and then we were made to write 3 algorithms

Tech Interview:- They were actually looking people with their concepts very clear. Main subjects were Data Structures, database, OOPs, C++.

IMP:- If u wanna keep learning in 1-2 yrs span and u love to work on Microsoft Technologies, MAQ is the answer.

MICROSOFT  (14th Feb)      Pay : 8.5 L

3-4 rounds. Aptitude. 1-2 Tech.HR

Out of 30 people.3 Cleared Aptitude. None selected

Aptitude :- Was written programming. We had to write code. around 8 questions. Almost all questions made u think. Apply your logic.  Data-structures and Algorithms holds the key.

1 Thing I would suggest you for such companies they want people who are problem solvers. Same as Morgan Stanley.

That’s it for now ;)

After giving so many apti’s and got a chance to give interviews in few… my journey wasn’t that futile as it seems. I kept getting better and better with each company and it is still on ;) .

Hope u liked it :)

Any questions or any type of help, Most Welcome!!! :)
